Another fun filled Random Act of Kindness Day!

November 2nd, 2018 – Another fun filled Random Act of Kindness Day!

Major Ballachey students and teachers enjoyed an early morning Random Act of Kindness Day assembly with Captain Kindness.

This year Random Act of Kindness Day began with an exciting, fun assembly at Major Ballachey School, followed by a welcoming and inspiring kick off at the Brantford Public Library.  Our very own Town Crier Dave McKee opened the ceremony, followed by several heart felt speeches from dignitaries from Brantford, Brant County, Six Nations and Mississauga’s of the New Credit, the Foundation’s Executive Director Joanne Lewis and Captain Kindness.

The first “Kindness Award” was given out to Doug Hunt in recognition of his outstanding volunteerism and continuous kindness year round throughout the community.

This year the Brant Community Foundation purchased special bookmarks with kindness quotes.  Two bookmarks were given to students at various schools, as well as handed out randomly throughout the communities with the idea that the individual would keep one, and give the other away as an act to pay it forward.

This year teams spread out to retirement homes, various businesses and organizations including Welcome In, Habitat Restore, license office on West Street and Stedman Hospice to name a few.

The Brant Community Foundation Youth Advisory Committee worked hard at making treat packages to distribute to other students, and planned a variety RAK day activities in their high schools.

Since the foundation began hosting Random Act of Kindness Day, 9 years ago, our communities have celebrated increasing involvement and awareness of spreading kindness on this special day as well as throughout the entire year.
