Community Fund
Grants from the Community Fund address the most pressing current needs as they arise from any sector in the community – arts, education, health, social services, etc. Donors can contribute a gift of any amount to the Community Fund.
Unrestricted Named Fund
Grants from unrestricted funds address the most pressing current needs as they arise from any sector in the community. Unrestricted funds provide the greatest flexibility in responding to community needs and priorities. Donors can establish an unrestricted named fund with a gift of $5,000.
Donor Designated
Donors can specify one or more charities to be perpetual beneficiaries of the annual grant from their fund. A Donor Designated Fund can be created with a gift of $10,000.
Donor Advised Fund
A Donor Advised Fund is an excellent option for donors who are considering establishing a private foundation but are concerned about the set-up costs and the ongoing administrative burden. Donors can establish a Donor Advised Fund with a gift of $50,000. Each year, donors recommend grants from the fund to the charities of their choice.
Scholarships, Bursaries, and Student Awards
A Scholarship, Bursary or Award Fund supports students who are entering or already studying post-secondary education. Typically, the award winners are determined by the school. A student award fund can be established with a minimum donation of $10,000.
Field of Interest Fund
A Field of Interest Fund works much like the Community Fund except that donors can identify an area of interest, such as the performing arts, children at risk, seniors, etc., where they would like to target their support. Donors can establish a Field of Interest Fund with a gift of $25,000.
Agency Fund
Registered charitable organizations can establish their own endowed funds to support their operations. Registered charitable organizations can establish an agency fund with an initial investment of $10,000.
Although there are minimum gifts required to establish different types of funds, donors may create a fund with an initial gift and pledges that will meet the fund minimum over a period of up to five years. The fund is designated as an emerging fund during this period, and it will begin granting after the fund minimum is reached.
Donors often choose to name their fund using their own name, in memory of or in honour of a loved one, or with a name that describes the fund’s purpose.
We are happy to meet with you to discuss your vision and help make it a reality. Get in touch! Contact: Anne Marie Peirce, Executive Director at ampeirce@brantcf.ca or 519-756-2499.
