When can you apply?
Applications for the William Jerome Music Award are accepted until Monday May 18, 2026
Applications for the Trevor Kruis Memorial Award are accepted until Friday June 5, 2026
Scholarships, Bursaries, and Awards created by donors ensure that students have important funding to assist with their post-secondary education.
Brant Community Foundation accepts applications to the William Jerome Music Award and the Trevor Kruis Memorial Award.
Brant Community Foundation offers other scholarships, bursaries and student awards that are available to students attending specific high schools. These are communicated to students through their high school guidance offices.
William Jerome Music Award
The family of William (Bill) Jerome wish to recognize his lifelong love of music, and his contributions to the performing arts over the course of his life. In honour of Bill Jerome’s love of music, and to help an aspiring music student to continue their education, those students who embody the following attributes will be considered for the William Jerome Music Award:
- Participation in school or local performing music programs, bands or orchestras.
- Dedication to developing excellence in a musical craft.
- Students who will be registering at the post-secondary school level to study music.
- Graduating students attending Burlington high schools in the Halton District School Board and Halton Catholic District School Board are welcome to apply for this award.
- Award applications are to be submitted by the student and must be supported by a faculty member, guidance counsellor, or coach. Only complete applications will be accepted. The Post Secondary Institution selected for post-secondary education will receive the scholarship on behalf of the successful candidate.
- Applications can be submitted by email to info@brantcf.ca with the subject line: William Jerome Music Award.
- Applications consist of a fully completed and signed application form, including support from a representative of your school, principal, program director, instructor, or guidance counselor; verification of marks in the final year of high school; and confirmation of enrollment from a post-secondary institution.

Trevor Kruis Memorial Award
This memorial award is named for Trevor Kruis, a science teacher remembered for being witty with a brilliant mind, a leader for change with a passion for social justice, equity, the environment, and global issues. In honour of Trevor’s work and interest in all students having a chance to succeed, students who apply will have one or more of the following attributes:
- An interest in promoting change related to social justice, equity, environmental or global issues.
- An interest in pursuing a career in health care.
- May be a newcomer to Canada.
- May have an interest in athletics.
- Must embody some of the following characteristics: ambitious, influential, inclusive, caring, kind, empathetic, and/or adventurous.
- The award is available to a graduating high school student from the Grand Erie District School Board who will be attending post-secondary education at the university or college level.
How To Apply
- Award applications are to be submitted by the student and must be supported by a faculty member, guidance counsellor, or coach. Only complete applications will be accepted. The Post Secondary Institution selected for post-secondary education will receive the scholarship on behalf of the successful candidate.
