Vital Signs

What is Vital Signs?

Vital Signs is Canada’s most extensive community-driven data program. It is spearheaded by Community Foundations of Canada and led by community foundations in Canada and around the world.

Vital Signs uses local knowledge to measure the vitality of a community and support action towards improving collective quality of life. Local data gathered through the program is used to support evidence-based, locally-relevant solutions to improve the quality of life at the community level. Vital Signs aims to inspire civic engagement, to provide focus for public debate, and to help a range of organizations, individuals, and civic leaders to take action and direct resources where they will have the greatest impact.

Brant’s Vital Signs is a check-up of community wellbeing that uses local data to inform philanthropy, celebrate successes, and address challenges. It’s an important resource for community groups, individuals and non-profits that aims to spark conversations and action. Topics addressed include the gap between the rich and the poor, the economy, getting around, the environment, health, and more.

Vital Signs aims to promote action, civic engagement, collaboration, and philanthropic investments to address our most pressing challenges.

Vital Signs presents a snapshot in time of the vitality of our local communities, using localized data provided by local experts and organizations. We are grateful for the support of our community partners, who shared the data and information used in the report. Together, this information provides a more fulsome picture of the wellbeing of the community.
