Charitable Giving Deadline Extension

Did you know that the Government of Canada has extended charitable Giving for the 2024 tax year? Deadline is Feb. 28, 2025. 

• Recently, the Government of Canada released draft legislation that would amend the Income Tax Act to extend the deadline for making donations eligible for tax support in the 2024 tax year to February 28, 2025.
• The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) confirmed that it will administer this 2024 deadline extension based on the draft legislation.

Donations will be deemed eligible for tax support in the 2024 tax year IF the individual or corporate donor claims the donation in that year. In other words, it is the donor’s choice to claim their donation in 2024 or 2025.
