Another successful Community Leaders Breakfast
The 11th annual Community Leaders Breakfast held at Best Western Brantford Hotel & Conference Centre on June 18th once again proved to be a success. With over 300 guests attending, including many high school students, the event provided an opportunity to bring the community together through networking, and increasing awareness of the Brant Community Foundation.
This year’s keynote speaker was Paul Williamson – a successful businessman who started his own company, The Williamson Group Inc. in Brantford in 1976. Paul is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, an honorary lieutenant-colonel of the 56th Field Artillery Regiment, and winner of both the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Brantford Brant Chamber of Commerce.
From an early age Paul believed in giving back. He has been a big part of the success of the Brantford Rotary Classic Run, Brant United Way annual campaigns, and the Brantford Food Bank annual food drives to name just a few.
Passionate about making a difference Paul tackles every project with eagerness and intensity. He quickly learned that the key is that ‘many hands make light work’.
He spoke about his upbringing and how he was always looking for opportunities to make a difference, emphasizing the importance of volunteering and giving back to the community. At the conclusion of his talk each guest received a special baton handed out by members of the 56th Field Artillery Regiment. The message on the baton reads “A race run together is more easily won. Now, pass the baton!”
We would like to thank Paul and all of our guests for coming out so early in the morning to be a part of this year’s event!
