Our YAC’s in action!

This year one of the YAC grants supported was St. Andrew’s Soup for the Soul family meal program.  The committee members went shopping for ingredients, spent an afternoon baking 400 cookies, helped serve at the dinner, and gave a gift card to help with other expenses for the meal.

The Brant Community Foundation Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a committee made up of young people who want to make a difference in their community.  One of the most important responsibilities is to assist the Foundation to make grant decisions for the Ontario Endowment Fund for Children and Youth in Recreation (OEFCYR).

This year, YAC members identified a long list of local organizations that provided services for children and youth.  After careful consideration, grants were given to support youth programs at the following local organizations:

Kids Can Fly

Paris Port Dover Pipe Band

Rotary Classic Run

St. Andrew’s Church Soup for the Soul

Woodman Park Community Centre

We are so proud of the dedication, enthusiasm and pride of our YAC’s and their commitment to be actively involved in shaping the future of their community.

Our YACs:

  • get involved in the community
  • provide a youth perspective to the Foundation
  • learn about our community and the opportunities to become a volunteer, philanthropist and leader
  • HAVE FUN!

As a bonus, YAC membership is an opportunity for high school students to earn their 40 hours of Community Service!  YAC members are invited from high schools, post-secondary institutions, local youth leadership groups and the community-at-large.
